Details:
Join our group as we enjoy a one hour long tour of Rippavilla. Rippavilla was built in 1855 and was one of the premier farms in Middle Tennessee. On November 29, 1864, the home and the families who lived there found themselves in the middle of one of the most dramatic events of the Civil War. This tour will feature the house and (weather permitting) grounds. Guides will discuss the Battle of Spring Hill and the stories of the Cheairs family, the enslaved people, and the farm. In addition to the house tour, participants will learn more about slavery and life in Tennessee in the 1800s: the tour covers everything from the lives of the enslaved people to the inner workings of 19th century Tennessee farm life.
This trip is geared towards middle and high school age students, although other ages are welcome to attend.
